We can start walking from the main square of Szentendre in four directions. No matter on which way: there will be a museum or a gallery within two hundred meters. Then another, and another —and so on. In two kilometers round we can find at least twenty places where the art is present. And the artists are present also — today almost 150 visual artists live in this town along the Danube River. The Art Capital reflected to this unique situation — with unique programs, which agitated the city and attracted a multitude of art lovers. Every day and every night through six weeks. Szentedre has become the Hungarian capital of arts again.
Nominated by Regina Németh:
‘ArtCapital is such a gap-filling initiative that is of great significance not only because of its cultural aspect but for how it cultivates tradition. It is known that numerous artists live and work in Szentendre, where the fruit of the local identity and the constructive force of the community is visible. Such values need to be appreciated and supported. I retain important that ArtCapital tries to make Szentendre, more lively and more widely known as a contemporary space‘
